Summary
The purpose of this study is to develop the decision support systems for environmental conservation farming which can evaluate and discuss the optimal cropping combination and cropping areas. So as to sustain the high level of the agricultural gross income and to calculate the volume of greenhouse gas emissions. The calculation function of the volume of greenhouse gas emissions according to “The guidelines for calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from industry” and the calculation function of the greenhouse cropping plan and the heating expense have been added to the decision support systems for environmental conservation farming which was developed by the authors of this paper. Experimental farming models for Niigata prefecture with multiple types of management concerning rice paddy farming and greenhouse cropping were used. Farming plan and volume of greenhouse gas emissions calculation was evaluated. The value of heating expenses was forecasted for various cropping combinations. Possible working hour was available effectively by making cropping season put to be early, middle or late of month. The increase ratio of the agricultural gross income comparing to the standard cropping plan was expected up to be 10%; 1.78 million yen. The agricultural gross income was showed to be 0.1% down (128,000 yen) and 0.5% down (781,000 yen) in case of 10% and 20% suppression of the volume of greenhouse gas emissions comparing to the standard cropping plan. It was shown that garland chrysanthemum (winter harvesting) was the most environment friendly cropping and the profit margin of greenhouse gas emissions in this cropping type was the highest among various cropping combinations.
